The purpose of studying online scams is to understand the key components that comprise the entire process.
By thoroughly deconstructing the process, each element can be analysed and then flipped. The results then become the building blocks for the antidote. Pretty basic stuff.
A online scam is any dishonest scheme or fraudulent act designed to extort money or personal information via the internet. It is however, safe to say that our personal information is the trade off for online use and as a society we have passed the stage of caring who has our email address or phone number. In this light we wont consider everyone who tricks us into getting that level of information a scammer. We have “spam filters” and “Block this Number” facilities for this basic level intrusion.
Scams often involve tricking people into giving away sensitive details, making payments, or providing access to accounts by pretending to be trustworthy or legitimate
